A Remake of the Karate Kid. Please Say It Isn't So.

On Sunday I was looking for something to watch on the treadmill when I came upon a marathon of The Karate Kid . Now this was a movie I loved when I was younger. It originally came out in my yearly teen years. Oh the memories of Ralf Macchio. Not to mention who didn't love Mr. Miyagi played by Par Morita. "Wax on. Wax off." I think that has to be the most famous line from the movie.

I truly enjoyed watching it again. It was great. I love watching Daniel stick up for himself against the bullies with the use of karate which was taught to him to use only in defense. Truly one of the great movies of the 80's. So when I saw a commercial for a remake of the movie I was not pleased. They are going to have a young kid move to China and get picked on and taught karate by Jackie Chan. Now to this I have to say. Why can't they just leave it alone? I don't want a remake. The original is a classic and kids today can watch it and still get the meaning of it. My daughter caught some of it and she sat herself right down and really enjoyed it.

I just find it so frustrating. Is there no originality left out there? I would much rather see an original movie as opposed to a remake. I almost never like remakes. Seriously what are they going to remake next Gone With the Wind or The Wizard of Oz. They better not even think about it.
