The popularity of the TV nighttime drama "Dallas" became very popular. It was decided that a new series called "Knots Landing" would be created based on the estranged Ewing brother Gary and his wife Valene who lived in California. The show followed the lives of the Ewing couple and four of their neighborhood families.

Kevin Dobson of Knots Landing(Mack) and Kojak (Crocker)
Kevin Dobson was born in New York City in 1943 and was raised in Queens. In his early years he worked on the Long Island Railroad. He then broke into acting and was best known as "Mack" or Patrick MacKenzie, the second husband of Karen (Fairgate) MacKenzie in the nightime soap "Knots Landing" a spin-off of "Dallas". Prior to that he was loved as "Crocker" Lt. Kojak's partner on the TV series "
